Heartland Bank Helps "Jazz Up" Gahanna's Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival

Creekside Jazz FestivalWhen the organization that produces the popular Gahanna Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival was looking for financing to purchase a mobile stage for their annual event, they came to the right place - Heartland Bank. The community-minded team at Heartland saw the revenue-generating potential that a portable stage could offer to that non-profit organization and helped them secure the funding. In the last nine years, the Heartland Stage has been used at various community events such as Red White & Boom, Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival, Marion Popcorn Festival, Westerville Sunrise Rotary’s Field of Heroes, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Gahanna Holiday Lights Parade, Grove City Arts in the Alley, and most certainly at the local Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival

Heartland Bank Goes “Back to School” With Visit to Searfoss Elementary

Searfoss Elementary SchoolTwo financial professionals from Heartland Bank were recently invited to visit Mrs. Cartwright’s fourth grade Social Studies classes at Searfoss Elementary School in Johnstown to broaden their financial literacy and understanding of the banking industry. This was initiated in response to the school’s preparation for curriculum alignment with the newly adopted State of Ohio Common Core standards for Social Studies. Randy Kelly, Johnstown Branch Manager, and Tanya Bennett, Assistant Branch Manager, taught five sessions explaining basic financial vocabulary terms, how to distinguish a want from a need, and how to plan and implement a basic budget. They discussed currency and its production, as well as career opportunities within the banking environment.

Dr. Edmond SeifriedOver 100 business professionals were in attendance at Heartland Bank’s 14th Annual Economic Forum at the Jefferson Country Club in Blacklick on May 15, 2013. Once again, the Forum featured the insights and retrospect of Dr. Edmond J. Seifried. Dr. Seifried is Professor Emeritus of Economics and Business at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. He serves as Executive Consultant and Chief Economist for the Sheshunoff CEO Affiliation Program and is also a partner in Seifried & Brew LLC, a community bank consulting firm.

Wonder BreadReal estate investors Kevin Lykens and Chris Schnetzler of LS Development Systems, LLC, knew they had some of the ingredients necessary to acquire and rehab the historic Wonder Bread building. The missing ingredients weren’t flour and sugar, however, it was capital. With Heartland Bank’s help, Kevin and Chris reached one of their goals by helping them finance extensive renovations to the Columbus landmark.
