It's Anything but the "Same 'ole Grind" at Crimson Cup Coffee and Tea

 Monday, November 18, 2013

Greg Ubert - Crimson Cup Coffee and TeaLike any recent college grad, Heartland client Greg Ubert anticipated a long and rewarding career in his chosen field (economics degree, computer software emphasis). After graduating from Harvard, though, the industry that called his name had nothing to do with bits, bytes, source code or Javascript (well, maybe a little bit of “java”). It had everything to do with strength, yield and a good crop of fresh coffee beans.

Since founding Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea in 1991, Greg has built a coffee powerhouse, and his handcrafted coffee and other products can now be found in coffee houses, grocery stores, college campuses and food service operations in 28 states.

Whether you’re thinking of opening a coffee shop, want to learn more about specialty coffee or are simply looking for a great ‘cup of joe’, Crimson Cup is the place to be. It’s a place where employees enjoy an engaging work life, a fun environment and a culture of giving. Crimson Cup is not just a coffee shop, it’s a place where individuals interested in opening a shop (or improving the shop they already own) can learn how to be successful in the specialty coffee business. Greg even wrote a book called “Seven Steps to Success” that outlines everything from how to profit from the proper ratio of drip-to-espresso sales, how to choose a location and what kind of numbers to expect the first year of operation. There is no charge for these services. No contract. No franchise fees. In fact, the company does not even require that those businesses purchase Crimson Cup products. According to Greg, “you learn as much from being a coach as you do from being a student.”

Crimson Cup is proud to be the roasting partner for a new line of coffee that benefits the national non-profit organization Cancer Support Community of Central Ohio. They work to ensure that all people affected by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community and Greg personally supports this mission by serving on their Board of Directors.

Greg’s partnership with Heartland Bank began five years ago, after his advisory board suggested that he “Find a bank that is like you!” We couldn't be more proud that he found “Central Ohio's Community Bank.” At Heartland, we pride ourselves on building relationships with our clients and supporting the communities in which we do business. Just like Crimson Cup.
