Employee Spotlight on Kelly Law

Photo of Kelly Law and FamilyThis month’s Employee Spotlight features another effective leader, respected colleague and self-motivated member of the Heartland Bank team, our VP, Commercial Relationship Manager, Kelly Law. A Groveport native who married his high school sweetheart, Kelly earned his undergraduate degree from Miami University and an MBA from Capital University. He works hard as an advisor for local businesses with respect to their commercial financial needs.

As a valued member of the Commercial Loan Department, Kelly spends his work days trying to promote the growth and development of his portfolio through calling efforts, community involvement and related activities. He prepares accurate and concise loan analysis for review and decision making and most importantly, he conducts proper portfolio management including annual reviews, customer credit data maintenance and collection activities. After joining the Heartland Bank team in the fall of 2012, Kelly has grown and diversified his portfolio to include churches, not-for-profit organizations, craft brewers, distillers and manufacturing companies.

Heartland Bank Chairman, President and CEO Scott McComb said “Kelly is able to establish immediate rapport with his clients and friends alike. He is a very good listener and takes that ability to the next level in clients experience at Heartland.”

The Quality and Excellence Award has been a tradition at Heartland Bank since 1994 and many of our employees proudly wear the pin each day that signifies this honor. Employees that have been given this award were chosen based on excellent customer service, being an example of a team player, helping other employees and exceeding the expectations of their job duties and responsibilities. Kelly was proud to be presented with the Quality and Excellence pin in April of 2014. To him, it means “understanding both internal and external customer needs and meeting or exceeding their expectations. Most customers just want to be treated fairly, with respect, and want you to believe they are important. If you understand your customer, providing quality and excellence is easier.”

Kelly is very involved in the Gahanna community he calls home. According to Kelly, “My role gives me the opportunity to serve on boards, be involved in community events and make a difference in the quality of life in our communities.” In his spare time, he serves on the Gahanna Lincoln High School Finance Committee, as Vice Chair of the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation, Treasurer of the Creekside District Alliance and a board member of the Mohun Board of Sisters of the Dominican of Peace.

What would Kelly tell potential clients about Heartland Bank? “What you see is what you get, meaning specifically that we are an organization that cares about other people, our community and our customer’s success in these communities. We put more time into understanding our customers than I believe we realize.”
