For 40 years the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce Music & Arts Festival has been a summer highlight for area residents. The festival began in 1974 as a small “street fair” with only 50 artists exhibiting their work. Today the Music & Arts Festival has grown to accommodate more than 140 fine artists and craftspeople from around the country with an estimated 18,000 in attendance over the course of the weekend. Heartland Bank is proud to serve as the presenting sponsor of this year’s 41st Annual Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce Music & Arts Festival.
The Chamber has continually monitored the quality of the festival by making it juried; only artists selected by a panel of judges may participate. Throughout its 40 years, the Festival has expanded to include the: “Heritage” section where craftspeople not only display and sell their work, but dress in period costume, and the “Westerville Walkway,” which consists of civic service organizations and features emerging artists from Westerville and surrounding areas.
Another major attraction to the festival is the youth exhibit. This exhibit allows young artists, ages 3-18, to get involved with a major art show and display their talents. This year’s festival will feature Imaginating Dramatics with Candace Mazur Darman, on Saturday, July 12, and The Magic Nate Show LLC with shows at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 13. Hands-on art activities will be open and available at the youth activities tent from 12-4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Free parking within walking distance of the festival will be available. Trolleys will also be transporting festival patrons back and forth from designated areas. The trolleys will pick-up/drop-off festival patrons on College Avenue (next to Graeter’s Ice Cream) in Uptown Westerville and the Westerville Sports Complex (Cleveland Ave.). The trolleys are free for all festival attendees and will run from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday.
NEW THIS YEAR: Ride your bicycles to the Music & Arts Festival and safely store them in the bike corral, sponsored by Heartland Bank. The bike corral will be located near the Main St. entrance to the festival grounds and will be free to use; all donations will benefit Pelotonia.
The 2014 Westerville Area Chamber Music & Arts Festival will be held at Heritage Park and Everal Barn on Saturday, July 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $1 for adults, free for children 16 & under.
As the presenting sponsor, you’ll see volunteers from Heartland Bank helping out at the admission gate, at the bike corral and at our booth near the Main Street entrance. Visit our booth and enter to win a Columbus Crew gift basket (including game tickets and an autographed soccer ball) or a Westerville gift basket (including gift cards from popular Uptown Westerville businesses)!
