What do the following organizations have in common? Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Central Ohio – Ronald McDonald House – March of Dimes, Ohio – Directions for Youth – The Buckeye Ranch Foundation – Junior Achievement of Central Ohio – Grove City Kids Association – Masonic Learning Centers for Children with Dyslexia, Ohio 4-H Celebration of Youth – Victory Ministries for Children’s Outreach Program . All are charity organizations that support children? Yes. All have a connection to central Ohio? All have a very important story to tell? Yes. Most importantly, all have received financial support from the annual Heartland Bank Charity Golf Outing!
What started out as an effort to help a few local children’s charities in 1996 has blossomed into a full-fledged annual fundraising event that has been gaining momentum in each of the last 15 years. The Charity Golf Classic has supported various charitable organizations through America’s Promise Alliance, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of our nation’s youth. From that first golf outing in 1996, when the Bank made a small donation to the Licking County 4H Horse Council to last year when six local charities selected by the Bank collected a total of $22,500, Heartland has contributed a grand total of almost $300,000.
Are you interested in golfing in the outing or helping with a sponsorship this year? It’s not too late. Click here for more information about the 16th annual Heartland Bank Charity Golf Outing. We’re proud to honor the following organizations this year – CD102.5 for the Kids, Masonic Learning Centers for children with Dyslexia, Ohio 4-H Celebration of Youth, Pelotonia 2013 Tiney’s Team and Victory Ministries for children’s Outreach Program.
As a result of the success of the annual Charity Golf Outing, Heartland Bank recently received the Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., LPA (WWR) Outstanding Community Partner Award at the annual convention of the Community Bankers Association of Ohio (CBAO). The Bank was awarded a beautiful crystal trophy that will be displayed at the upcoming Golf Outing along with a $2,000 cash prize that will be donated back to one of our five 2013 charity recipients. Sponsored by WWR and in cooperation with the CBAO, the Community Partner Award was created to honor those community banks in Ohio that actively partner with their local communities to provide educational, community outreach and/or community service programs, and celebrates those that are investing time and resources into their communities and inspiring others through their work.
Heartland Bank certainly meets or exceeds all that criteria in central Ohio – especially through our Charity Golf Outing. The support from the local community, our vendors and partners, and even the Heartland Bank family has contributed to the success of this annual event.
