Celebrate the 4th of JulyOn July 4, 1776, our founding fathers claimed independence from Great Britain and democracy was born in this great land. Every year about this time, Americans celebrate that freedom and independence with family gatherings, picnics and community events. Here at Heartland Bank, we’ll be right there with you, celebrating every step of the way. 38th Annual Johnstown Firemans Festival Presented by Heartland Bank

Johnstown Firemen's FestivalTimes were tough in the mid 1970s for the Village of Johnstown Fire Department.  Former Fire Chief Johnny Johnson realized that in order to provide much needed EMS service to the community, he would have to learn the art of fund raising.  And quick!  Golf outings and bake sales helped, but not enough.  Thirty eight years later, what started out as a local street fair to earn a few dollars has turned into a full blown old-fashioned festival with true hometown flair.

Heartland Bank Helps "Jazz Up" Gahanna's Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival

Creekside Jazz FestivalWhen the organization that produces the popular Gahanna Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival was looking for financing to purchase a mobile stage for their annual event, they came to the right place - Heartland Bank. The community-minded team at Heartland saw the revenue-generating potential that a portable stage could offer to that non-profit organization and helped them secure the funding. In the last nine years, the Heartland Stage has been used at various community events such as Red White & Boom, Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival, Marion Popcorn Festival, Westerville Sunrise Rotary’s Field of Heroes, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Gahanna Holiday Lights Parade, Grove City Arts in the Alley, and most certainly at the local Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival

Heartland Bank Goes “Back to School” With Visit to Searfoss Elementary

Searfoss Elementary SchoolTwo financial professionals from Heartland Bank were recently invited to visit Mrs. Cartwright’s fourth grade Social Studies classes at Searfoss Elementary School in Johnstown to broaden their financial literacy and understanding of the banking industry. This was initiated in response to the school’s preparation for curriculum alignment with the newly adopted State of Ohio Common Core standards for Social Studies. Randy Kelly, Johnstown Branch Manager, and Tanya Bennett, Assistant Branch Manager, taught five sessions explaining basic financial vocabulary terms, how to distinguish a want from a need, and how to plan and implement a basic budget. They discussed currency and its production, as well as career opportunities within the banking environment.
