It’s beginning to look a lot like the holidays in Gahanna! The Gahanna Convention & Visitors Bureau is hauling out the holly and decking the halls in anticipation of the Holiday Lights Parade & Season, presented by AEP Ohio. Kicking off the holiday season in central Ohio is the annual lighted parade, the Healthy Holiday 5K and one mile Family Fun Run, visits with Santa and the annual Character Breakfast at the Olde Gahanna Sanctuary.
The signature parade kicks off at 6 p.m. on Friday, November 29 and will march west on Granville Street then north on Mill Street into Olde Gahanna. In addition to the Heartland Bank horse and carriage, the parade will feature lighted floats, the Gahanna Lincoln High School marching band, stilt walkers and Santa Claus. Serving as Grand Marshals for the annual Holiday Lights parade are two Heartland Bank clients, former Holiday Lights Committee Chairwoman Bev Metcalf and local resident/Olympic gold medalist Butch Reynolds.
Ever wonder what it would be like to run with an Olympic gold medalist? Or are you looking for a way to burn off all of those Thanksgiving day calories? You can do both if you sign up for the Healthy Holiday 5K or one mile Family Fun Run! Parade Grand Marshal Butch Reynolds will be leading the way on this race through beautiful Creekside Park in Gahanna on Friday morning, November 29. Register here for the Healthy Holiday 5K and enjoy swag and a tech shirt from race sponsors, Mount Carmel and the Gahanna Convention & Visitors Bureau. A portion of the proceeds from the race will be donated to GRIN (Gahanna Residents in Need).

Even though this is Santa’s busiest time of the year, he’ll be dividing his time away from the North Pole at two Gahanna locations. Visit him at the Ohio Herb Education Center (110 Mill Street) on Saturdays, December 7, 14, and 21 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Little ones can also visit with Santa at the offices of Lew Griffin Insurance Group (77 Mill Street) following the parade on Friday, November 28, (until 9 p.m.) or from 6-8 p.m. Fridays December 5, 13, and 20, or 4pm-7pm on Saturdays, December 7, 14, 21.
In addition, the Gahanna Department of Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Gahanna Convention & Visitors Bureau, is excited to host Winter Wonderland presented by AEP Ohio at Creekside Park & Plaza, through January 2, 2014. Throughout the years, Winter Wonderland has grown from a simple light display to a breathtaking spectacle that includes approximately 2,500 lights PER TREE on the island as well as specially created lighting at the lagoon on the lower plaza and on the north and south trellises on the upper Creekside plaza.
Plan to visit downtown Gahanna during the holidays and discover unique shoping ideas, delicious seasonal cuisine, holiday activities and more!
