New spa in town center to offer treatments with a 'human touch'

Pamela Saviers said we should never underestimate the power of the human touch. It relieves stress and can make us look good, too.

Saviers just opened her "dream come true" -- The Human Touch Salon and Day Spa -- at 3669 Broadway.

Her shop opened March 22. Saviers said she offers hair-styling, manicures, pedicures, massages, body treatments, permanent makeup and more.

"I know it's a strange name, but it means a lot to me," Saviers said.

She said she chose the name because sometimes people forget the power of the human touch to relieve stress and make us feel better.

"People get busy. They don't take time to do something for themselves or relax," Saviers said. "It's no surprise to me that people are stressed all the time. Take 90 minutes out of your month and relax."

Opening her own shop is a long time in the making, Saviers said.

She said she worked five years at Michael's Salon, formerly at 4238 Broadway, as an independent contractor or what she called "booth-renter."

During her five years at Michael's, Saviers said she searched for a place to start her own business, but she couldn't find "a place that had potential."

That was until she found 3669 Broadway in December.

"It had plenty of rooms," Saviers said. "One of the biggest attractions ... was that it had a shower."

The shower would give her clients a place to rinse off mud after having it applied during body treatments, she said.

Saviers said her business model was accepted by Heartland Bank in Grove City on Jan. 25. She also received a Small Business Administration loan.

"From then it's been go, go, go, go, go," she said.

Her shop is just outside the reach of the newly revamped Grove City Town Center commercial revitalization grant program.

The program offers up to $10,000 matching grants to town center property and business owners for mostly exterior projects.

The program once offered $1,000 matching grants. City council passed the program March 1.

Saviers said she has been a licensed massage therapist for 14 years. She is also a licensed cosmetologist with certifications in permanent makeup and pregnancy massage.

She said she plans to hire four stylists and two licensed skin care specialists and they must think like her, she said.

"I've been in Grove City five years," Saviers said. "I know my clients and what they expect. To me, it's all about the client. My reward is knowing that my client just absolutely loved their service."
